Corten Extension/ Full Architectural Service Studio
This distinctive home blends contemporary architecture with traditional rural forms, creating a striking yet sympathetic addition to the landscape. The design is defined by its three-part composition: a central stone-clad core flanked by two crisp gable forms — one in white render and the other in weathering corten steel.
The corten-clad gable, with its warm, earthy tones and crisp detailing, anchors the design visually and adds material richness and depth. Large-format glazing within the gables maximises light and frames views to the gardens, while the central stone section references vernacular Irish farm buildings.
The overall massing respects the scale of traditional single-storey dwellings, while the material palette — corten, natural stone, and lime render — creates a modern architectural language rooted in context and durability. The layout ensures strong visual and spatial connections between inside and out, with both gables opening onto private terrace spaces.
