Courtyard House/ Full Architectural Service Studio
This newly constructed two-storey residence presents a contemporary take on rural vernacular architecture, blending traditional forms with modern detailing. The layout is carefully composed around a south-facing courtyard, which features a shallow reflective water feature, creating a calm and sheltered outdoor living space at the heart of the home.
The building forms are articulated through a series of interconnecting pitched and flat-roofed volumes. A soft white rendered finish is paired with natural stone and standing seam metal cladding to provide textural contrast and a tactile palette that resonates with its rural context.
Generous glazing opens key living spaces to the courtyard, providing natural light and long views while maintaining privacy. The roofscape includes discreetly positioned rooflights to enhance daylight and ventilation. The two-storey volume is clad in dark standing seam metal and is expressed as a distinct form that contrasts with the single-storey white gables.
This dwelling prioritises natural materials, refined proportions, and outdoor connectivity—offering a contemporary family home that is both rooted in place and designed for modern living.
