Galway House/ Full Architectural Service Studio
This new-build home in Co. Galway blends contemporary rural design with high-quality materials to create a striking and elegant residence. The house is arranged as a simple elongated form with a strong linear presence, grounded by a natural stone base and wrapped in dark vertical timber cladding. The gabled profile and tall chimney give the house a sculptural quality, while generous glazing and roof lights maximise daylight and visual connection to the garden.
A key feature of the design is the semi-covered outdoor living area, formed by the continuation of the roofline and expressed structural timber rafters. This sheltered terrace, complete with a double-sided chimney and seating area, creates a seamless indoor-outdoor experience that suits both everyday living and entertaining.
Internally, the open-plan layout is designed around a central hearth and social space, with large sliding doors opening out to an expansive white stone terrace. The clean architectural language, restrained material palette, and carefully integrated landscape elements combine to deliver a refined modern home rooted in its rural setting.
